George Armstrong School of International Studies

George Armstrong School of International Studies, located at 2110 West Greenleaf Avenue, serves over 1,300 Chicago Public School students from early childhood through eighth grade. The multi-racial/multi-cultural student population speaks over 30 different languages. As a member of the Rogers Park Neighborhood Magnet Cluster, the school has a specialty focus in Writing and Literacy. Each year, the International Studies Program highlights a different country. This year, the country of Columbia is being featured and incorporated into the classroom curriculum. Dr. Arline K. Hersh, Principal of Armstrong, supervises a staff of over 100 and has led the school to be rated as a “School of Merit” by the Chicago Board of Education as well as being placed on the Illinois State Honor Roll.
