The Seasons
by Julia, 4th grade
Seasons are the things that make the world interesting. They are the things that people can look forward to throughout the year. These are the things I look forward to throughout the different seasons.
I love autumn because all the leaves change colors – yellows, reds, oranges, and greens. All very beautiful colors. I smell all the nature in the trees like wood, bark, leaves and sap. In the fall the leaves fall from the trees and make a big rainbow on the ground. We sometimes rake it up, jump into it and make a new mixture on the ground. When I do it, I jump and feel the leaves rustling against my sweater. Sometimes my sister and brother bury me in the leaves and I see total darkness, but when I pop out I can see the sun looking book at me.
As the time comes the leaves turn brown and die and the snow starts to fall. All there is left of the tree is the frosted branches and the trunk. All the children bundle up with coats, hats and gloves, and start to play in the snow. I go out with my brother and sister and make snowmen. When we’ve had enough snow we go inside for some hot chocolate. I taste the chocolate goodness. I can feel the chill of the snow flushing out as the warmth of the hot chocolate is coming in and warming my bones.
It starts to clear up and the snow starts to melt. Spring is finally here. In the spring all the flowers pop out. It’s a sight. I put on my shorts and a t-shirt and go outside and shoot on my soccer goal in my backyard. The trees have green leaves and the buds start to pop out into beautiful light pink flowers.
The sun starts to get hotter and hotter. People start to turn on their air conditioning. All the kids are out of school and go outside and play. Some of the kids climb on the trees and see how high they can go. The leaves are healthy now and they are bright green. Sometimes in the summer I go to the beach and play in the water. It’s fun to splash my brother and sister.
Sadly, it starts to get chilly and kids go back to school because it’s autumn. All the leaves start to change colors – yellows, reds, oranges and greens.
