Elizabeth's Amazing Summer
by Betsy, 5th grade
One summer a girl named Elizabeth went to the marketplace. Elizabeth was eleven years old. In the marketplace Elizabeth found a dog. In front of the door it said “NO DOGS ALLOWED.” The manager shouted, “Who is the owner of this dog,” no one said anything, but then Elizabeth said “that is my dog.” Elizabeth called the dog and she came running to her. Elizabeth decided to name her Princess and the dog waged her tail.
Elizabeth saw that Princess was black and she look so tired. Her stomach was rumbling, she hadn’t eaten in days. Princess looked very sick, Elizabeth was sad to look at the dog all tired, hungry, and dirty. Princess’ hair was in all kinds of weird knots. Princess would sniff what she had purchased. Elizabeth didn’t really care how Princess looked; all she cared was that she had a dog.
She took Princess to her house and she told her mom what happened. Her mom picked up the phone and was going to call the animal shelter, but Elizabeth convinced her mom not to call the animal shelter. Elizabeth promised her mom she would take care of Princess. Elizabeth first washed her and discovered she was brown not black, she also fed her, and combed her hair. Soon they found out she was an obedient and intelligent dog. They celebrated because they had found an obedient girl dog. Her mom baked and cooked a lot of delicious dishes. She made pasta and salad. Elizabeth invited her friends and her mom’s friends. Everyone had a great time. When the party was over, Elizabeth’s mom asked her, “where is Princess.”
Her mom and Elizabeth went looking for Princess. They looked everywhere. Elizabeth cried and was worried, but she was determined; she was not going to give up. The last place they looked was the marketplace. Princess was in front of the door thinking how Elizabeth took care of her and how she said she was her owner.
They decided that they would go to the pet store. The next day they went to the pet store. They bought Princess a pink collar and leash. They also bought her a: cage, and other things. Elizabeth promised her mom she would really take care of Princess. This time she really meant it. She would always love her dog, Princess.
