from it being sunny and never getting cold
from swimming in my friend’s pool everyday
from cul-de-sacs everywhere
from everyone good at soccer and football
I am from Virginia
I am from changing weather every few months
from violence around your house
from someone dead on the news everyday
from dirtiness all over the streets
from gangsters coming out at night
from your mom worrying about you getting shot
from good basketball players everywhere
from where Kanye and Common grew up
I am from the Southside.
