Barack Obama’s Speech: How it inspired me

by Calvin

I was sitting in the classroom on the 2nd day of school; it was just an ordinary day like any other. We went to computer class and came back to the classroom to find out that our teacher had President Barack Obama’s speech on the Smart Board. As I listened I heard him say things like, never give up or always try again and that there is no excuse for not trying. He said that J.K. Rowling’s book had been rejected 12 times and she kept trying and trying and finally she succeeded in having it published. After that, President Obama started to talk about his life and how his dad left his mom and him when he was a little boy; he said that he didn’t let those things bother him.

His speech really inspired me because he never gave up when he faced many problems in life. What really touched me is when he started talking about his family, it was sad but he didn’t give up when his dad abandoned them. He made me realize that we are the only ones who can help ourselves succeed.

I never thought that a speech like his would make such a difference in my life. In the future I’m going to remember what President Obama said and glue it to my head. I am not going to let the things that happen at home get in the way of my school work. If I fail I’ll try again and again because that is the only way to succeed.
