Say No to Smoking

by Deanna

Oh my! What in the world has been going on for decades? People have been smoking everywhere you go and continue to do so today. Say you have a family member who smokes in your house. You’ll end up with some dirty yellow walls. That’s not all – yellow teeth, bad breath, smelling bad and an empty wallet. So if you want to walk around with these bad things, then go ahead and start smoking. I know no one will want to hang out with someone like you!

Imagine this: There’s a girl who is really a shy person. When she talks to people, she freaks out. Now that is just her. Let’s talk about her outfit. That girl goes to a party wearing these clothes that no one would want to look at, looking as if she is wearing her grandmother’s clothes. I know what you’re thinking: Oh, wow!

She goes to the party and sits all alone. No one barely says a word to her. Then she decides to get out a cigarette and smoke it with a group that is doing the same thing. Now this scene happens a lot to children of ages eleven and older. They may think that if you smoke, it will make you cooler to have so many friends.

Sometimes children may know a friend or family member who smokes, so they think they should, as well. No, don’t think that just because someone does something that you have to do it, too. Let’s say if someone jumps off the roof. Are you going to do that, too? I know you won’t!

If someone offers you a cigarette for some reason, just say no. That will be the right choice.
